What we do

Eleven focus

We help children, families and communities break the cycle of poverty. We do this by inspiring people of all ages to make their dreams come true.

Hygiene education and disease prevention

Supporting the restricted health policy at school

Medical School Supervision (Main Project)

Training of local school doctors and nurses

Relationship and Sex Education in School

It takes an entire community to raise a child. Once this community is there, almost anything is achievable

Our

projects

All projects are aimed at promoting the general health of the students.

All activities are carried out at school, during class hours, by a team composed of a general physician and a nurse.

1. Medical School Supervision (Main Project)

with 2 hatches :

a) training of local school doctors and nurses

During the missions, the doctors and nurses are trained by the Belgian partners in the discipline of School Medicine, both on a medical and organizational level.

Their basic education is insufficient. In addition, the organization and methodology of this discipline must be taught.

b) medical consultations

The medical consultations include a full screening examination of the pupils of the 1st and 4th primary and of the 1st secondary. A health balance of the pupil is drawn up by means of this screening examination.

A medical file is drawn up for each student. The personal and family history is requested, the vaccination status is checked as well as the frequency with which the student is dewormed.

The nurse then proceeds to the biometric examination (height, weight, vision and hearing) and the doctor to the clinical examination (mouth and teeth, nose, ear, heart and lungs, skin, hair and nails, puberty, abdomen, orthopedic , neurological, ...)

If problems are identified, the parents will be notified by letter and accompanied in the search for appropriate treatment. The costs arising from additional examinations/treatments are borne by the parents.

The medical team monitors the students twice within a period of 6 months.

2. Hygiene and disease prevention education

The aim of the education hygiene and disease prevention section is to teach the students the basic principles of body hygiene, oral and dental hygiene and household hygiene as well as disease prevention (inoculations, deworming, etc.).

The medical team gives lessons about this in the different classes and makes school boards, teachers and parents aware of the importance of good hygiene and the prevention of diseases.

3. Sex Education in School

The project aims to inform students from the 4th grade and their biology and life education teachers about the various aspects of sexuality. She wants to make the government, parents, management and teachers aware of the importance of sex education and wants, among other things, to ensure that girls are less vulnerable.
